Renowned as a protein powerhouse, Chickpeas (Cicer arietinum) are a versatile grain legume cherished worldwide. Desi chickpea seeds are commonly enjoyed as dry pulses, whether whole, split, or ground into dhal or flour, and feature prominently in dishes like hummus and soups. Kabuli chickpeas, on the other hand, lend themselves to salads, vegetable mixes, and canning. Fresh consumption of both seeds and pods is also popular.
